Our Sisters' Week-A-Way this year was at beautiful Oceanside, Oregon which is a sleepy, quiet beach town with spectacular rock formations, clean sand, and, of course, the cool sea air that the Oregon beaches offer all. Lorle made all arrangements to rent a darling beach house right on the ocean front. This was the view out on our deck! Amazing!

We flew into Portland and spent two days at Lorle's home, attending church in Lake Oswego, enjoying the inspiring temple, driving to our childhood home...always a "must," our mother's gravesite, Fabric Depot, a darling quilt store and other favorite spots. Nancy was with us, but she received a call from home that Don was very confused and didn't know where she was (after just taking her to the airport). She took a plane back home the next morning and missed our beach trip, but Don is fine and had had a poor reaction to some medication. All is well with him now. So we missed our sister, Nancy. The trip is never the quite the same when one is missing. But we did have a wonderful time. We stopped at the Tillamook Cheese Factory on the way to Oceanside, which along with Multnomah Falls are the two biggest tourist attractions in Oregon. Stocked up on cheese, fudge, jerky, lunch and bought a cute hoodie sweatshirt. Fun stop.

What can compare with the scenic beauty of the Oregon coastline...nothing I have ever seen!

The view out of our window at sunset!

Oceanside has a wonderful restaurant that we enjoyed on our last night there. We ate in for all other meals. We always try to include our stepsister, Paula West, who very much enjoys our week-a-ways, though she doesn't spend anytime on the beach. It's kind of like having Marge with us. Our days were very relaxing, spent reading, playing games, working on handwork projects, watching movies, talking, enjoying the sea air from our deck. And of course, Sally and I walked the beaches for two or three hours everyday.

The agates were not on our beach this year, so Sally and I drove 1/2 mile down the road to what we called "Secret Beach." We headed there at low tide each morning and climbed down a most interesting path to this secluded beach that was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful and there we found our precious agates and beach rocks. Sally and I have learned that we can walk to the beach together, but then we must part ways due to our competitive natures!

Every direction I looked on this beach I could hardly believe my eyes!

This is the path to Secret Beach that was built by a gentleman who gathered all kinds of "freebies" over the years and eventually completed the path to the beach. It was like a fairy land with benches and little grotto-like rooms along the way. Very Charming!

And this is my stash of treasure from this year's trip to the beach! They look so beautiful wet (I had just washed off the salt and sand) but they do loose their lustre when they are dry. Sally bought a rock tumbler so hers will look just like this after they are polished!!!!!!

Our three days at the beach went by way too quickly as it always does. We left for the airport and were blessed with a wonderful view of Mount Hood...a special little parting gift! We are already thinking of our trip to the beach next year!
