Hannah Dancin' Banana!

Gramma's dream come true weekend!!!! Hannah and I flew to Seattle for a "Nuvo" dance convention at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue, Washington. Adam and Steph were in Mexico, so I scored as the next best thing to spend the weekend with my first grandchild! We arrived the day before classes began, thinking that classes (which were taught by the "So You Think You Can Dance" choreographers!) started on Friday morning, but her one class that day did not start until 8:00 p.m. So with little to do on Friday we slept in, then went to the mall next door where Hannah carefully spent the $100 her Dad had given her for spending money... and she did NOT spend one penny more! We had fun testing perfumes, window shopping and eating out, but were tired out by 2:30, so we went back to the room where we played several rounds of "Quiddler," some games on my Ipad, ate a small dinner in the room and relaxed before her class.
The next day was filled with classes and late afternoon competition performances. Hannah's Studio C is amazing and Hannah's two dances scored a Gold and a High Gold. She is a beautiful dancer with her long arms and legs.
Getting ready for the performaces was a little stressful. We had to attach long glittery eyelashes, dress in her first costume (no picture as Hannah disliked it) which required body glue and MANY hairpins (mask), and get her hair in a fancy bun... all in about 45 minutes. Thankfully, Carol, the head of Studio C, offered to do her bun, and the eyelashes went on in about 3 tries! Hannah kept her cool and danced beautifully.
After her long day she chose a dinner at PF Changs which unfortunately, had a 2 hour wait time. So we ordered "to go" and ate in our room. Very yummy! We are both " home bodies" so we enjoyed the time in our hotel room which may sound boring to anyone else, and we never turned on the tv...just played games and talked. We loved it.
While Hannah was in classes, I exercised and went back to the mall to buy the yummy cupcakes shown in the first picture. Our days went by very quickly.
Another surprise that Steph discovered just before our trip was that the dance convention went through Sunday! Our air tickets had been purchased for Sunday morning and Hannah wouldn't have wanted to dance on Sunday anyway. So I thought she was very mature about her choice and her attitude to miss a full day of classes and evening competition.
We flew home to Boise in beautiful weather where Mindy picked us up and drove Hannah home. 1 1/2 hours later we were back in her car and to the airport where I flew to Las Vegas and back to SLC. It was a weekend I will remember for a long, long time! I sure love this sweetie pie, Hannah!
