Grampa and Gramma tended Mason and Parker and Ava for the weekend while their parents went on a little anniversary get-a-way. The kids were great! We kept busy with crafts....making bird feeders, luminaries, autumn mosaic leaves, and chunky crayons...and on their "own time" they amazed us with their creative inventions and ideas.
Mason found a long rope when we went for a bike ride to the Boise River (he REALLY likes to collect things!) and he and Grampa went to work making a rope swing for the tree in their front yard. Another idea they had was to chop a foam sword into little pieces...kind of messy...but then they reassembled the "spare parts" making two "fishing poles" and went to the pond to go fishing, unsuccessfully, but still fun! They connected a laundry basket with straps to the tramp and bounced each other making it "as fun as Lagoon"! They really are inventive and imaginative children. (Mason lost two teeth on one day and scored big with the tooth fairy.)
A bonus of being there in Boise was that we could check in with Kate on her 10th birthday! She is now a double digit girl and the cutest, funniest, darling granddaughter ever. And of course, we visited with Adam and Steph's other kids, see their new school clothes, etc. Mindy's family was up at McCall so we missed seeing them this trip.
We surprised Michael and Jamie by hiding at the airport rather than meeting them at the gas station as Mike suggested. The kids were so happy to see their parents, but I think they had a good time with the "older set" as well. It was wonderful to spend concentrated time with these precious children!
