Boise Bonding

Bill and I went to Boise to watch Adam and Steph's kids while they went on a quick trip to Mexico (Wed - Mon.) Gratefully, Adam flew us there and we could avoid snowstorms coming and going.  It's been a crazy, cold, gray, inversion filled winter in Boise AND Salt Lake.  But the smiles and warmth of these cute kids warmed us up!  Steph left us a detailed schedule of the kids activities...morning and afterschool routines, but mostly dance practices (with everyone coming and going at different times!) and performances, with two on Saturday!  It's amazing to me how Steph keeps it all straight!  But here are the pics of our cute little dancers...Abby and Ava, and Kate!  They were fabulous!

Zach is a good supporter, but let's face it, sitting through a two hour dance performance is not his favorite thing to do and there were two that day!  Aunt Mindy to the rescue!!  BYU was playing a game that night, so she invited all the Shipp boy cousins over, plus a Johnson cousin (tall one in the middle).  She bought white tee shirts for each and with blue fabric paint, they each created a BYU jersey with a team player on the back of each.  They LOVED it!   (I hear that Parker and Zach have been wearing their "jerseys" to school every day with a long sleeved tees underneath.  They think they are the greatest!)  The boys played B-Ball all afternoon in Mindy's downstairs playroom/gym and had a ball!

The kids were perfect!  No reminding or prodding to do homework or piano practicing.  The girls took care of Abby's hair (great since I'm out of practice!) and knew the where and what of everything in the house.

Cute Kate practicing the piano and doing so very well.  Below.. Ellie was wasn't feeling very well and I had brought her home from church after Sacrament Meeting, but after a rest she seemed to rally a little and prepared us a yummy slush drink.  We called it Strawberry Delight!  Yum!

Hannah is finishing up some homework and Abby plays a game on the I Pad (what did we do before all these electronics!!!)  Sunday was my favorite day as even a 9:00 church did not feel like a rush to get there.  We were together all day without dance class comings and goings or any other activities, so we enjoyed painting nails and playing games.  Then MIndy invited us over for a delicious soup and salad dinner which was so nice and made the day even better.  It's always fun to be with her and to get the cousins together which doesn't happen very often.  She is the best daughter!

I couldn't resist adding this darling picture of Charlie with Ellie.  She has a "thing" for Charlie...but who doesn't...and this picture shows that it could be mutual!  Love it!

Here we are on the last night...and we are all still smiling!!!!  Adam and Steph kept in close touch with texts and emails which is certainly an advantage over the years when we had babysitters in our home with only a phone number of a hotel to call in case of emergency. It was a wonderful opportunity to really BE with these kids who are so precious to us!  We flew home Monday and dug and pushed our car out of its position at the airport parking lot where it was buried in snow! Welcome Home!  (It's been quite a winter, but at least we won't have water/drought issues this summer! )

Gramma, Abby, Ellie, Zach ("Attack", and still wearing the "jersey"), Kate, Hannah and Grampa!
